Design that's built to be delivered.

It usually begins with the creative work. Moodboards, material and finish selections, space planning, lighting concepts, and the early exploration where a brief turns into a direction. This is the part I love most — sitting in the possibility of a project before it is fixed, testing what a space could feel like, how people will move through it, and where light should fall. For commercial, retail, hospitality, and workplace interiors, this work is developed alongside a trained interior designer partner, allowing me to combine a designer's eye with a practical understanding of how schemes are actually delivered. It is an approach that has contributed to award-winning interiors and, more importantly, spaces that work for the people who use them.

Exhibition design brings together many of the disciplines I enjoy most. A successful exhibition stand must communicate a brand, attract attention, function operationally, meet venue requirements, remain within budget, and be delivered to a fixed deadline. From initial briefing and concept development through to fabrication, logistics, installation, and handover, I coordinate the many moving parts that turn a design into a successful visitor experience. Whether supporting a small activation or a large multi-stakeholder exhibition programme, my focus remains the same: creating environments that work creatively, commercially, and practically.

Lighting runs through much of what I do as its own discipline rather than an afterthought. Creative lighting schemes, architectural and public realm installations, bespoke illuminated features, and specialist lighting projects are developed from concept through to implementation. Light is often the element that transforms a competent space into a memorable one, and it rewards being considered from the very beginning of the design process.

Over the years I have learned that successful projects rarely fail because of bad ideas. They fail in the gaps between design, fabrication, logistics, and delivery. Much of my work sits in those gaps, ensuring creative ideas survive contact with budgets, programmes, site conditions, and real-world constraints. The value I bring is often found in the problems clients never have to deal with because they have already been identified, managed, and resolved before they become an issue.

That is really the whole point of how I work. Not design on its own, and not project management on its own, but the same person holding both — fluent enough in the creative side to shape the idea and grounded enough in the practical side to make sure it survives all the way to completion. That practical side includes health and safety documentation, risk assessments, method statements, supplier coordination, logistics planning, programme management, stakeholder communication, and compliance requirements. One person who understands the entire journey — from the first moodboard, lighting concept, or exhibition idea through fabrication, installation, and handover.

Whether you are planning a commercial interior, an exhibition stand, a lighting installation, or a project that sits somewhere in between, the goal remains the same: turning a good idea into a successful outcome. If you are looking for someone who can guide that journey from concept through to completion, I would be delighted to hear about your project.

Every project starts as an idea — a feeling about a space, a concept for a stand, a way light might transform a room. The hard part is carrying that idea all the way to something real, without losing what made it good in the first place.

That journey — from the first sketch or moodboard through to the moment something is finally installed and switched on — is where most projects are won or lost. And it is where L4i Design works.

I am Adam, and L4i Design is a senior-led design and project management consultancy. The simplest way to describe what I do is this: I help clients shape an idea, explore what it could become, develop it into something buildable, coordinate the people who make it, and deliver the finished result. The same person who sits with you over the first concept is the person standing on site at the end — which means the original idea does not quietly erode as it passes through other hands.

My background combines project management, interior design, exhibition delivery, lighting design, fabrication coordination, and urban regeneration, with experience spanning commercial, retail, hospitality, public realm, and event environments across the UK and internationally. Over the years, I have worked on projects ranging from bespoke interiors and lighting installations to exhibition stands, branded environments, public realm schemes, and commercial fit-outs, gaining a practical understanding of both the creative process and the realities of delivery.

Mission

At L4i Design, our mission is to create thoughtful, practical, and inspiring environments that help businesses, organisations, and individuals achieve their goals.

We believe that great design should do more than look impressive—it should solve problems, enhance experiences, support business objectives, and deliver lasting value.

By combining creative design, technical expertise, and professional project management, we guide projects from initial concept through to successful completion.

We are committed to delivering solutions that are functional, commercially viable, and tailored to the unique requirements of each client.

Whether designing interiors, exhibition environments, retail spaces, or bespoke installations, our focus remains the same: to provide innovative, high-quality solutions that balance creativity with practical implementation.

Through collaboration, attention to detail, and a hands-on approach, we strive to build trusted relationships and deliver projects that exceed expectations, creating spaces and experiences that leave a positive and lasting impression.

Vision

At L4i Design, our vision is to bridge the gap between creative design, project delivery, and emerging technology. We believe the future of the design, construction, interiors, and exhibition industries will be shaped by a combination of human creativity, practical experience, and intelligent digital tools that improve efficiency, communication, and decision-making.

As part of this vision, we actively explore the use of Artificial Intelligence to support design development, project planning, visualisation, information management, and problem-solving.

We have developed our own AI-powered assistant, BuildSmart UK, designed to support professionals working within the UK construction and built environment sectors by bringing together guidance on planning, building regulations, health and safety, and project delivery.

This forms part of our wider commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.

Looking ahead, our goal is to create a modern consultancy that combines design excellence, project management expertise, and technology-led solutions to help clients make better-informed decisions and deliver projects more effectively.

By embracing innovation while maintaining a practical, hands-on approach, we aim to contribute to the future of the built environment and support businesses in creating spaces, experiences, and projects that are both commercially successful and socially valuable.

Message From the Founder

I'm Adam, the founder of L4i Design, a Nottingham-based practice that brings together lighting design, specialist interiors, exhibition projects, and project management that carries them from concept to completion — under one roof.

What began as an independent studio has grown into a multidisciplinary practice, combining technical precision (AutoCAD, SketchUp, digital tools) with hands-on project delivery. I've worked across the UK with clients in retail, hospitality, exhibitions, and urban regeneration — designing and delivering everything from bold lighting schemes to complete exhibition builds.

L4i Design is the design and project management trading name of Look4ideas Designs LLP.
